Remnants Of Political Catastrophe

Responding to an exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery marking seventy years since the partition of India and Pakistan, I created concrete sculptures with aged copper.

The materials reflect the lasting impact of political upheaval, giving physical form to the scars left on people’s lives.

The work was exhibited as part of the South Asia Design Exhibition and the Future Creatives programme. It marked an important point in my practice, exploring how contemporary art can respond to historical events and their continuing effects.
